There is a very intimate moment in our work that often goes unnoticed amidst the paperwork and valuations. It happens when an owner hands us the keys to their home and, with that simple metallic gesture, gives us permission to enter their private life. Selling a house is not like selling a car or stocks; it implies letting a stranger walk through your hallways, have an opinion on your living room, and enter the rooms where your children have grown up. It is an act of tremendous vulnerability, and believing that this boils down to a simple commercial transaction is the first mistake many make in our sector.
In the real estate world, there is a very cinematic stereotype of the aggressive agent, that “shark” in an impeccable suit who speaks fast and promises the moon just to sign the exclusive. Perhaps they work on Wall Street, but our experience in Benalmádena tells us that things work differently here. When someone chooses us to manage their assets, they are not looking for a pushy salesman who overwhelms them with aggressive closing techniques. What they are looking for is a sensible traveling companion, someone who has enough empathy to understand that, behind that sale, there is a life change, a painful inheritance, or a new family dream.
Precisely because we understand this responsibility, we are extremely careful about whom we let into our team. Now that the agency is growing and the results of this 2025 have been extraordinary, we are in the middle of a search for a new person to join us as a Listing Consultant. We could hire the fastest salesperson in the west, the one who brags about cold numbers, but we prefer to look for something harder to find. We are looking for someone who knows how to listen before speaking, who understands that honesty sells more than an easy promise, and who has that “good vibe” that makes you feel at ease when you open the door to them.
This philosophy of “people first, then houses” is what has allowed us to grow so much this year, thanks above all to the recommendations of satisfied clients. True confidence in my real estate agent is not earned with an advertising slogan; it is earned by demonstrating day by day that your interests are above our immediate commission. Knowing that the person showing your house treats it with the same respect as you do, or that they will tell you the truth about the price even if it is not what you want to hear, is what allows you to sleep peacefully throughout the process.
If you are reading this and are a client, we want you to know that we take care of our team to take care of you. And if you are a sector professional who feels out of place in aggressive environments and is looking for a home where ethics and human treatment are valued, perhaps we should meet. At Hernán Bustos – Real Estate Experts, we believe that professional excellence is not at odds with being good people; in fact, we are convinced that it is the only sustainable way to achieve it.
Are you looking for someone you can trust to sell your house, or are you that trustworthy person we are looking for?
Whatever your case, the doors of our office are open. Come have a coffee with us, without haste and without fine print, and let’s talk about how we can help each other.
